
Delal Aydın
Dr. Delal Aydın is a Philipp Schwartz Initiative fellow at the Institute for Turkey Studies, University of Duisburg-Essen. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences and a research fellow at the Center of Social Movement Studies at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Italy. She earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
Dr. Aydın’s research focuses on community-building within the Kurdish national struggle, analyzing resistance against the Turkish state’s symbolic and physical violence. Her broader academic interests include political sociology, state theory, subject formation, social movement theory, youth studies, standpoint epistemology, and the study of race and ethnicity.
